During this handicraft tour we will visit three islands off the western coast of Estonia. We relax in a luxurious boutique hotel in Kuressaare, Saaremaa. We stay is a rural farm house B&B in Muhu Island and Kihnu Island, and a spa hotel in Pärnu. Pärnu is a lovely resort town on Baltic Sea with marvelous wide white sandy beach. On the way we visit Tõstamaa, which is famous for its in-lay knitting.
We learn local crafts: knitting, crocheting, embroidery, belt braiding etc.

Knitted with two colored yarn in traditional Estonian fair-isle style. The pattern comes from Otepää area in Valga County. It is an ancient geometrical pattern, depicting trees or snow piles. There is a Japanese pattern which is amazingly similar to this one. Tightly knitted using 0-size needles and DK weight yarn. The brown yarn is hand dyed, 100% wool from Estonia. The off-white is natural sheep color. They are perfect to block wind and wear in winter. Beautiful faux entrelac ribbing is very elegant, like a bracelet around your wrist. The gloves are color-worked all the way to the fingertips, which makes them warmer than average thin one-layer gloves. The yarn being rather thin makes them very comfortable to wear and they fit like a second skin. Women's size. -

Please welcome a fine work of handicraft art, where traditional Estonian knitting style is combined with Seto patterns. And this is not an ordinary pattern, but it has traveled to Siberia with expatriates from Seto area in South-East Estonia and back to home-land with folklorist, who were researching them few years ago.
