#195: Hand Knitted Seto Estonian Gloves in Obinitsa Style with Entrelac Wrist Pinks and Purple Galore Coral

135.00

Knitted mostly with two colored yarn in traditional Estonian fair-isle style. The wrists are knitted in the entralac technique using matching shades.

The pattern comes from Obinitsa area in Setoland, Estonia. It is an intricate leaf motif.
Women in older days were very eager to accommodate new motifs which warriors brought home from far away lands or exotic merchants were selling in towns. This motif is most probably of medieval origin.

Tightly knitted using 0-size needles and DK weight yarn. The colorful yarns are hand dyed, 100% wool from Estonia. They are perfect to block wind and wear in winter.

The gloves are color-worked all the way to the fingertips, which makes them warmer than average thin one-layer gloves. The yarn being rather thin makes them very comfortable to wear and they fit like a second skin.

Women’s size, approximately 7-7,5.
