It is an ancient geometrical pattern, depicting powerful and protective 8-pointed star. The little crosses add extra protection and warmth to this pair, as the whole palm part is three layered.
This pattern is in Estonian National Museum filed under ERM A 6:11 and it is knitted in 1740 by a Vana-Antsla student. It was collected in 1920.
Tightly knitted using 0-size needles and DK weight yarn. The off-white yarn is natural sheep color, 100% wool from Estonia. The pink is hand dyed, natural Estonian wool. They are perfect to block wind and wear in winter. Beautiful lacy ribbing is very elegant, like a bracelet around your wrist.
