#216: Hand Knitted Estonian Seto Gloves in Pankjavitsa Style with Burgundy Green and Natural Grey Lacy Cuffs

119.00

Knitted with three colored yarn in traditional Estonian fair-isle style. The pattern comes from Panjavitsa area in Setoland, ESTONIA. It is an simple ancient motif, depicting the tree … where the bird laid the egg and the world started.

Tightly knitted using 0-size needles and DK weight yarn. The burgundy and green yarns are hand dyed, 100% wool from Estonia. The grey yarn is natural sheep color from Kihnu Island. They are perfect to block wind and wear in winter. Beautiful lacy ribbing is very elegant, like a bracelet around your wrist.

The gloves are color-worked all the way to the fingertips, which makes them warmer than average thin one-layer gloves. The yarn being rather thin makes them very comfortable to wear and they fit like a second skin.

Setos are an ethnic and linguistic minority living in an area covering South-East Estonia and West of Pskov Region in Russia. Setumaa will appeal to anybody interested in different cultures, religion and traditions – with its beautiful nature Setumaa is well worth a visit.
