Fine Hand Knitted Lady's Gloves in Värska Style

Price: 78,00
Description: Knitted with three (natural grey, pink and navy) yarn in traditional Estonian fair-isle style. Tightly knitted using 0-size needles and DK weight yarn. The pink and navy yarns are hand dyed, 100% wool from Estonia. The grey is natural sheep color. They are perfect to block wind and wear in winter.

This pattern comes from Värska area in Setoland, ESTONIA. It is a nice Seto pattern found from Värska Museum, as it depicts circles and crosses, which are so very characteristic to Seto area.

The cuffs are quite extraordinary, as I learned that style in Latvia, when participating in a Latvian Knitting Camp in Aprill this year. You could read more about that camp here:
But I also remembered that I had seen this style before. I looked it up and there actually is a pair of gloves in Estonian National Museum, under the code 18523, with the same cuff. Small world, especially when we are living close with our good neighbors.

The gloves are colorworked all the way to the fingertips, which makes them warmer than average thin one-layer gloves. The yarn being rather thin makes them very comfortable to wear and they fit like a second skin.

Women's size, also available for custom order in any sizes.
